3 Weeks
I can see it, the end is near
But I always fear
I will not finish, the job won’t get done
Because I just want to have fun
If only they would install
A margarita bar
Down the hall
The days would pass
The students will show up to class
They would all get A’s
Cause what would I care
I am just counting the days
But really
I need to hold tight
I can’t get silly
I need to keep up the fight
Three weeks to go
Projects in the making
Prove to me what you know
Review and ask
Try to stay on task
Not just them
But me too
Three weeks and counting
Summer almost here
The excitement is mounting
Clean my room
Pack it up
Soon the school will be a tomb
Grade their papers
Grade their tests
Ignore their capers
Soon you will rest
Three weeks till summer
Now I will have time to clean my house
Kind of a bummer
But no, the rest is needed
The break is good
My yard needs to be weeded
Maybe I will get to know my neighborhood
Vacation is coming
Almost here
I am telling you
I need a beer
I won’t drown in the papers piling high
I will just take a deep sigh
Get it done
Then get ready to have some fun!
Charlonas
There are dos chicas
En mi clase
Sometimes they can be very sassy
They sit debajo de la ventana
They are here every mañana
Una lleva ropa very revealing
But I admit, she is appealing
The chicas talk and discuss
They make me want to cuss
Ya hablan Spanish
I wish they could vanish
Go to a class
I would give them a pass
Quiero que lea
Un libro que sea
No me importa
Doesn’t matter to me
I just want to see
If la clase were más silenciosa
Sin estas dos enfadosas
Tenia algo que hacer
Instead of making air
Salir de sus bocas
I could focus
No me hagan caso
I can’t help myslef though
They smile so nice
Even though I have to ask twice
They are who they are
To me una es a super star
Dark is her long hair
No se que va a ser
Pero she will have success
I can only guess
Where she will go
And what she will know
Her amiga es la misteriosa
Or maybe más tramposa
She sits in her chair silenciosa
I find her to be a little chistosa
Me parece muy serious
At times I do get furious
Es una chica very strong
You cannot tell her she is wrong
Terca is what I would say
Ella me dice que No way
Estas dos chicas under the window
These two girls I have gotten to know
Vienen a clase
Y sí son sassy
But, I am glad
It hasn’t been too bad
Cuando se vayan I might be sad
But it’s ok
I might see them everyday
They could come visit
And then they could sit
Debajo de la ventana
Maybe cada semana
They are fun and they are simpáticas
Hopefully they will visit me más
As enfadosas as they are
I am sure they won’t be far
Estas dos muchachas
Mis dos charlonas
The Boys in the Back
The boys in the back
Are sitting around
They don’t do much
Sometimes they try to shrink down
to the size of a pea
so that I don’t see
that they are not doing
what needs to be done
They seem to only want to have fun
They don’t seem to know
That no matter how low
I can still see them
Trying to hide
Behind that girl
Who sits on the side
They giggle and laugh
They wiggle through about half
Of the class without doing a thing
Until the bell rings
They will come to me at the end
They will beg and they will bend
Over backwards
Trying to find a way
To raise that D to an A
But alas, to no avail
They will not be able
Because I will say
You were the boys in the back
Who did nothing
You did however never lack
In conversation
And without hesitation
They will say
We did our work!
We didn’t lurk behind the girl
We were good students
We really tried
But I can see through the lie
Maybe next year
When they are more mature
They will find the value
Of sitting in front
